Psychogeographies: 3D Collages Encased in Layers of Glass by Dustin Yellin

Psychogeography is the act of exploring an urban environment with an emphasis on curiosity and drifting. Or, more colloquially put, a “toy box full of playful, inventive strategies for exploring cities.” For the Brooklyn-based artist Dustin Yellin, his toy box is full of everything he finds on the street—flowers, leaves, bugs, and even dead rats, which are then composed into three-dimensional collages and sealed behind resin.

Water Imitated by a Wood Automaton by Dean O’Callaghan.

This mesmerizing object is an automaton made by Dean O’Callaghan. It’s designed to look like a drop of rain hitting a pool of water. As he turns the crank, concentric rings of water emanate from the center. O’Callaghan attributes the idea to sculptor Reuben Margolin.

Línea de Horizonte: An Installation of 60 Morphing Heads by Javier Perez

Línea de horizonte is a sculpture created in 2006 by artist Javier Pérez. It represents a sequence of heads 60 that turn as and when the scroll faces. The multidisciplinary artist often explores aspects of mortality through anatomical forms.

Javier Pérez works are characterized by a certain syncretism, both in the method and materials used. Sculpture, photography, drawing, video and performance are used independently as well as together to create installations where interaction and exploration are essential.

With his work, Javier Pérez reveals his inquiries and reflections on mankind, using a language full of intense metaphor and imbued with a strong symbolism. His works contain an intrinsic dialectic, showing how weak can be the boundary between concepts seemingly opposite such as the natural and the cultural, the inside and the outside or life and death.

Dazzling Chinese Pavilion Resembles Waves of Wheat-Studio Link-Arc

The winning entry to build China’s Pavilion at the  Milan Expo 2015 is a stunning reinterpretation of a public space. Designed in collaboration between Tsinghua University and New York-based Studio Link-Arc, the duo rejected the notion of a typical pavilion, and instead came up with a structure that resembles billowing fields of wheat. It’s a thoughtful and creative twist on the Expo’s theme, “Feeding the Planet - Energy for Life.” According to the architects, the 5,000-square-meter space entitled Land of Hope is centered around the idea that, “hope can be realized when nature and the city exist in harmony.”
